Some industry experts say that consumers should ignore mortgage brokers and go directly to the lenders themselves if they want to get the best deals.
Rupert Jones from the Guardian believes that banks and other mortgage lenders are offering preferential deals to consumers who contact them directly instead of going through a mortgage broker.
However, Mr. Jones said he did recognise the benefit that brokers can offer in terms of advice and guidance.
He commented, "If you want to be sure of getting the very best mortgage, you need to take the time to check out the different offers from banks and building societies, as well as talking to a broker," he said."
