With more people than ever in the UK struggling with mortgage repayment problems, one leading industry expert has advised consumers to approach their lenders if they think they're going to miss a payment.
Bernard Clark from the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) says that many mortgage providers will help consumers in some way if they're struggling to keep up with repayments.
He commented, "There are a number of things lenders might do depending on their circumstances, they might consider rescheduling the loan, and there are possibilities for extending the term of the loan which could reduce payments."
