Leading UK anlaysts are forecasting that despite suggestions that the mortgage market is weakening, it will in fact remain strong for some time to come.
The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) say that most of the factors that have made the market so strong over recent years remain in place, so people shouldn't expect the base rate to fall dramatically any time soon.
A spokesperson for the group commented, "The full extent of the wider financial market turmoil is yet to become clear, but the UK housing and mortgage markets have proved resilient in the past and there are a number of factors likely to prove supportive once the dust settles."
